Anche la presenza di sacerdoti e direttori spirituali presenti alle varie apparizioni oggi ancora in corso, non garantisce assolutamente la bontà dell'apparizione stessa. Anche i sacerdoti possono sbagliare, in buona fede, nell'interpretare i fenomeni mistici. Solo la Santa Sede è infallibile e quindi solo le apparizioni accettate da essa sono degne di essere prese in considerazione.
Lo studio sistematico di un'apparizione mariana per approvarne la veridicità, qualora la Santa Sede abbia constatato le bontà dei frutti da essa derivati, non potrà mai essere effettuata fin quando il fenomeno stesso non sia cessato.
